“real genius,” .... Fanfare Magazine, MARIA NEWMAN
Welcome to the Newman Legacy Sessions...
Warm greetings from Maria and Scott,
Many of you have walked with us—through music, through arts festivals, through friendship. And along the way, we’ve listened closely. We’ve heard the quiet heartbreaks and unseen brilliance. We’ve seen gifted artists pause their dreams—not for lack of talent, but from exhaustion, isolation, or simply not knowing where to turn next.
If you’ve ever wondered whether your path was still waiting for you… it is.
If you’ve ever longed for MORE than just the next gig—for mentorship, for purpose,
for study, for real creative leadership… you’re not alone.
These questions have stirred something in us. And they’ve led us to create something new—something that’s not just a program, but a place to remember who you are, and where the life of your music yearns to take you.
Together, we will build an experience rooted in legacy, artistry, and the power of self-definition. It’s a mentorship journey for artists who are ready to shape their lives—not only their résumés. To build the stage instead of waiting to be invited. To lead from the inside out.
As many of you know, I (Maria) grew up surrounded by the musical legacy of my family—and yet I most often felt invisible. That tension shaped everything. I had to find my own way, not through heritage, but through courage, heartache, and the wild persistence of creativity. It led me to concert music, film scoring, conducting, chamber performance—and back to myself.
And I, (Scott), know what it means to begin with little more than vision. I've built thriving arts programs from scratch, and I have grown communities and organizations
that now stand strong—because someone believed music could do more than entertain.
It could heal. It could spearhead. It could change things.
Now we want to walk with you, wherever you are along your path.
We are excited to offer you what we, too, fought to find: the tools to move from confusion to clarity, to creating in community (and solo, if you wish) ~ from the cycle of waiting to be chosen, to, instead, build something of your own.
We’ll help you expand your voice in performance, composition, pedagogy, and media scoring—how to deal with debilitating performance anxiety, and shaping your leadership style. Whether you dream of founding an arts festival, launching a nonprofit, growing an ensemble, or simply reclaiming your place as an artist with purpose—we are here for that.
We know because we have lived through imposter syndrome, industry bias, gatekeeping, and grief. And we’ve come through with stories we long to share—not as the final word, but as an offering.
If you feel that it’s time for something to shift in your musical life—if your next chapter has been whispering to you—we’d love to talk. A conversation about your story, and where it might begin to blossom.
We look forward to connecting with you at https://calendly.com/scotthosfeld/30min

Online and group class sessions will be topical and relevant to the goals of the participants.
You will never miss out if you are busy or ill! If for any reason, you are unable to participate live, sessions are recorded for review!
Regular Consultation and Check Ins
Questions for, and follow up with Scott and Maria are welcome at any time. Unlike traditional weekly lessons, we are available to you online during the week. Testimonial - Dr. Hayley Neher
Without a doubt, Scott Hosfeld entering my life is one of the best things that ever happened to me.
He revolutionized the musical community in my area by bringing the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts to fruition, and made it possible for me to start on a path that would eventually lead me to become principal violist of The Juilliard Orchestra. Were it not for his support and encouragement, I would never have imagined something like that could ever be possible, let alone have had the courage to try and achieve it. He provided much needed guidance during my precollege years and was invaluable in preparing me for success at conservatory. I could not have asked for a better teacher, mentor and friend. He is beloved in our community, and I know I am not the only one whose life he has changed.

ABOUT RHAPSODY FOR A GOLDEN AGE
THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!
Warner Classics is proudly sharing music from the new epic composition: “Pictures at an Exhibition: The Paintings of Bob Peak” with an audience beyond those who were able to attend our concert premiere at Walt Disney Concert Hall! Born at the intersection of music, visual arts, and the world of cinema, this vibrant new piece brings together ten internationally renowned composers in world-premiere compositions, each inspired by a unique piece from the oeuvre of the American illustrator Bob Peak (1927–1992). "Pictures at an Exhibition: The Paintings of Bob Peak" is modelled after the timeless concept of one of Mussorgsky’s greatest works and brought to life by the Los Angeles Film Orchestra, under the baton of the legendary conductor Leonard Slatkin.

"I could not be more excited to begin this adventure than with Maria Newman’s absolutely magnificent Rhapsody for A Golden Age. I was completely blown away when I first heard her demo for this piece. When I heard it first played by our world-class orchestra, I was almost in tears. Maria’s brilliant composition is a virtuosic showpiece for piano, performed here by the great Robert Thies.
